Lindung 24 Jam Became Voluntary: What Payroll Teams Should Check

Based on Bryan Cheong’s original video. Reviewed 28 September 2026.

The July 2026 change to voluntary Lindung 24 Jam participation for local employees did not remove the need for accurate payroll records. Employers still need to identify each employee’s applicable status, maintain supporting documents and reconcile contributions.

In this video, Bryan discusses the announcement of 8 July 2026 and three practical questions raised at the time. His views about refunds and software purchases are commentary, not a decision on every employer’s or supplier’s individual case.

What changed?

The change concerned local employees. PERKESO’s current scheme page continues to distinguish voluntary local participation from mandatory participation for foreign employees covered by the rules. Check the employee category before deciding what the announcement means for a payroll run.

Question 1: What happened to June payroll?

Bryan’s central point is that June payroll belonged to the earlier implementation period. However, salary payment, payroll deduction and remittance to PERKESO are separate events. The fact that salary should have been processed does not prove that every employer had already remitted every contribution.

Review the actual June payslip, contribution submission and payment confirmation. Use those records to establish what happened in your company, rather than assuming all employers were in the same position.

Question 2: Are earlier contributions automatically refundable?

The video expresses Bryan’s view that the later policy change would not automatically reverse contributions for the earlier mandatory period. A duplicate payment, incorrect amount or disputed employee record is a different issue and should be raised with PERKESO using the supporting records.

Do not delete a historical deduction or offset it against a later month solely because the word “voluntary” now appears in an announcement.

Question 3: Can a payroll software purchase be refunded?

Bryan explains why he expects payroll software to remain useful: employee-specific participation and later changes still need to be managed. Whether a particular purchase can be refunded depends on the supplier’s agreed terms and circumstances. The video does not determine a customer’s contractual rights.

What should SQL Payroll users check?

  1. Confirm the employee’s recorded participation and supporting declaration.
  2. Check the payroll month affected and whether a previous submission already exists.
  3. Ask support which current version and settings apply to the required workflow.
  4. Compare the calculated deduction with the applicable contribution table.
  5. Review the payslip, contribution file and payment totals together before submission.

A software update helps apply the configured treatment; it does not replace confirmation of the employee’s status.

Where to read the follow-up questions

The later Lindung 24 Jam FAQ covers declarations, the historical August deadline, new employees and claims. Refer to PERKESO’s current guidance for official procedures.
